Register to vote in the General Election
|
|
|
The deadline to register to vote and be eligible to cast a ballot in the November 5 General Election is Monday, October 7. To register to vote in Georgia, you must be a citizen of the United States, a legal resident of Georgia and of the county in which you wish to vote, and at least 17.5 years of age to register and 18 years of age by Election Day.
You can complete the voter registration application online or print and complete a voter registration form on the Gwinnett Register to Vote webpage. To check your voter registration status, visit the Secretary of State's website at MVP.SOS.GA.gov. Please call the Voter Registrations and Elections Office at 678.226.7210 or visit GwinnettElections.com if you have any questions.

Solicitor’s Office to hold Second Annual Dash 4 Domestic Violence Awareness 5K
|
|
|
The Gwinnett County Solicitor’s Office will hold its second annual Dash 4 Domestic Violence Awareness 5K on Saturday, October 5 at 8:00am at Alexander Park, located at 955 Scenic Highway in Lawrenceville. There is still time to register at GwinnettCounty.com/Dash4DomesticViolence.
Registration is $35 per participant. Proceeds from the 5K will go to three domestic violence organizations that provide essential resources to survivors and education to the public — Mosaic Georgia, Partnership Against Domestic Violence, and Ahimsa House.

Gwinnett hosting several poll official hiring events
|
|
|
Citizens who want to be involved in the electoral process are invited to attend one of Gwinnett County’s upcoming poll official hiring events. Gwinnett Voter Registrations and Elections is looking for citizens of all backgrounds — including bilingual poll officials — who want to gain valuable work experience and earn between $175 to $440 per election.
During the event, attendees must complete an I-9 form and bring the required original identification documents for verification. If you are unable to attend a poll official hiring event, apply at GwinnettCountyJobs.com.

Attend Fiesta on the Plaza on October 15

Celebrate the contributions of our Hispanic and Latino community during Hispanic Latino Heritage Month! Join us for Fiesta on the Plaza on Tuesday, October 15 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm for an evening of food, music, entertainment, and more. The event will be at the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center Plaza, located at 75 Langley Drive in Lawrenceville.
An exhibit honoring the Hispanic and Latino community will also be open to the public through October 15 in the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center Atrium. The self-guided exhibit highlights the American Latino community’s rich history and culture.

Veterans invited to resource event October 26
|
|
|
Gwinnett County Chairwoman Nicole Love Hendrickson is hosting the second annual Stand Down event to provide resources and services to veterans on Saturday, October 26 from 10:00am to noon at OneStop Norcross.
The event will include a special car showcase and provide supplies and services to all veterans and their families no matter their status. This includes food, health screenings, haircuts, flu and COVID-19 vaccines, and more. Register at GwinnettCounty.com/VeteransStandDown or by calling 770.822.8850.

Gwinnett acquires 23-acre Macy's site at Gwinnett Place Mall
|
|
|
The Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners approved the Urban Redevelopment Agency of Gwinnett County’s purchase of the Macy’s sites at Gwinnett Place Mall, totaling 23 acres, for $16.5 million. The board also approved the issuance of bonds to fund the purchase through its Urban Redevelopment Agency. The Urban Redevelopment Agency of Gwinnett County will acquire 293,059 square feet of retail buildings on 23 acres of the Gwinnett Place Mall site, including the Macy’s department store and Macy’s furniture store, which will be leased back to Macy’s for store operations to continue through early 2025.
The Gwinnett Place Mall Site Revitalization Strategy was a combined effort between Gwinnett County, the Gwinnett Place CID, and the Atlanta Regional Commission.

Property tax bills due October 15
|
|
|
The 2024 Gwinnett County property tax bills, mailed in August, are due on October 15. If you have an escrow account, your property tax information is made available to your mortgage company. It is your responsibility to ensure taxes are paid.
