Congratulations to Aquatic Program Supervisor Joseph Banda, and Aquatic Recreation Leader Golnoosh Jafari, Joel Ordonez, and Christina Keller for completing the Lifeguard Instructor Trainer Academy. This prestigious certification from the American Red Cross enables us to train and certify instructors, furthering our mission of creating safer communities. It's accessible and offers a wide variety of fun activities for children of all ages and abilities. Swing by and enjoy the wheelchair-accessible spinner and rocker, double swings, a circular ramp system, and much more! The first two weeks of November are traditionally a time when deer pose a greater danger on the roads.
We would like to remind drivers to:
• Be alert for "deer crossing" signs
• Remain vigilant for animals during feeding times - from dusk to dawn
• Exercise caution on roads near forests and bodies of water
• Be on the lookout for herds - if you spot one, there are likely more nearby
• Maintain a reasonable speed
• Apply the brakes when necessary
• Stay in control of your vehicle and avoid swerving out of your lane
• Always wear your seatbelt

A new trail will soon connect pathways in Harbins and Tribble Mill parks so patrons can hike, bike, or jog from one recreational area to the other. The 2.2-mile project includes a paved multi-use trail with a 760-foot boardwalk, overlooks along Palm Creek plus bridges, associated landscaping, and furnishings. The $3.5 million contract is funded by the 2017 SPLOST program. Construction will take about a year. The trail is an extension of the Lloyd N. Harris Trail, a Signature Trail in Tribble Mill park. Harris dedicated his life to preserving public land in Gwinnett. The extension is part of a countywide trails master plan adopted in 2018. The new trail section will start at a side path trail along New Hope Road and connect with the Harbins Park trail at the Luke Edwards entrance.
