2024 State of the County: Gwinnett is where opportunity thrives

Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners Chairwoman Nicole Love Hendrickson addressed hundreds of business owners, residents, and other stakeholders during her fourth State of the County address. Hendrickson reflected on her journey with the County and recognized the efforts of many to make Gwinnett a benchmark community.
With investments in public safety, human services, infrastructure, and quality of life that make Gwinnett a desirable destination for families and businesses, she said the County has ensured the strength of its fundamentals and never wavered in its commitment to outstanding service delivery. Commissioners to hold March town hall meetings
|

District 1 Commissioner Kirkland Carden, District 3 Commissioner Jasper Watkins III, and District 4 Commissioner Matthew Holtkamp will host a series of town hall meetings to share updates about their districts. The sessions will highlight key takeaways from Chairwoman Nicole Love Hendrickson’s State of the County address, provide updates on projects and initiatives in their respective districts, and inform attendees about the Board of Commissioners’ intent to call for a transit referendum. Here’s your chance to get a firsthand look at saving lives and protecting property with Gwinnett Fire and Emergency Services! Online applications for the next Citizens Fire Academy are now being accepted until March 24. The nine-week program offers a behind-the-scenes look at department operations and specialty teams like Swiftwater Rescue, Technical Rescue, Hazardous Materials, and Mass Casualty response.
English and Spanish-speaking instructors will lead the classes, which begin April 11 and meet every Thursday at 6:00pm. The average class lasts three hours. For more information, call the Fire Education section at 678.518.4845 or send an email to FirePrograms@GwinnettCounty.com.
