Chairwoman Hendrickson presents proposed budget for 2025

Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners Chairwoman Nicole Love Hendrickson presented her proposed budget to guide County government spending for the 2025 fiscal year. The proposed budget for 2025 totals $2.65 billion. It consists of a $2.1 billion operating budget and a $542 million capital improvements budget, which includes funds from the County’s Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax program. Chairwoman Hendrickson said the proposed budget addresses challenges facing the County, including health care, affordable housing, and sustainability.

The proposed 2025 budget resolution is available online and as a hard copy in the Financial Services office at the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center in Lawrenceville during business hours, Monday through Friday from 8:00am until 5:00pm. Commissioners will hold a public hearing on December 3 in Conference Room C of the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center. Residents can also offer input on the County’s website through December 31. Commissioners will consider the 2025 budget at their first meeting of the new year on January 7.

Share your input for the Gwinnett Disparity Study

Gwinnett County Government is seeking your feedback as we embark on the County’s first disparity study. Gwinnett County has partnered with Griffin & Strong P.C. to evaluate potential disparities or barriers in government contracting and purchasing for small and underrepresented businesses. Attend one of the upcoming virtual informational meetings on Tuesday, November 19 at 6:00pm to learn about the study and how you can participate.

The meetings will be recorded for analysis and posted on the study’s website. Email GwinnettCountyStudy@GSPCLaw.com or visit GwinnettCountyDisparityStudy.com for more information.

Gwinnett Police seeks community input

The Gwinnett County Police Department is committed to serving our community with excellence. To ensure we’re meeting your needs, we’re seeking public input through a community survey. Randomly selected households will soon receive surveys in the mail that will ask about different aspects of police performance and help us identify areas for improvement. Your feedback is crucial in shaping the future of our department.

If your household receives a random survey, an adult resident who is 18 years or older should complete the survey. All responses are confidential and no identifying information will be shared. If you aren't selected for this initial survey, a community-wide survey will be available in the coming weeks.

Heat your home safely during winter

As colder months approach, we want to emphasize the importance of safety while heating your home with alternate heating methods if power outages become a concern. Here’s a list of essential tips to help you stay safe and warm this winter:

  • Fireplaces need to be cleaned out frequently, and chimneys should be inspected for obstructions and cracks to prevent deadly chimney and roof fires
  • Only buy space and kerosene heaters evaluated by a nationally recognized laboratory, such as Underwriters Laboratories or UL
  • Never use generators in homes, garages, basements, crawl spaces, or other enclosed or partially enclosed areas, even with ventilation
